Dear Reader,
A few years ago, I embarked on a health roller coaster as I navigated a mystery illness. While conventional medicine left me with no real answers, integrative medicine gave me the tools to heal my autoimmunity and other chronic conditions through lifestyle interventions, including using “food as medicine.”
Like many of you, I'm a sucker for peer-reviewed studies (I studied engineering for my undergrad, but in an alternate universe, I would have been a biology major) and chalk up my own healing to falling down a PubMed rabbit hole.
Through my own health journey, I have learned three lessons:
Inspired by these learnings, I started writing Rooted in Science to provide you with evidence-based, actionable information to all things holistic health. We do the deep digging for you to understand complex, scientific concepts (including finding relevant, robust research — we ask "why" a lot!) and then simplify these topics into digestible, actionable content.
We hope you find the articles, guides, and recipes throughout Rooted In Science helpful in navigating your own health journey.
In good health,
You can trust the information you read here to help you through the next steps in your health journey — whether that’s for yourself or for a loved one.
Our Medical Review Board is made up of board-certified physicians, registered dietitians, health coaches, and other medical experts. Members of the Review Board vet content containing medical facts and health claims, and work around the clock to provide the necessary critique that guarantees our information is up-to-date, accurate, and verified by primary sources.
If improvements from the Review Board are suggested, our editorial team addresses and implements them immediately. It is only when a reviewer approves content that it is officially marked as “Medically Reviewed.”
When it comes to your health, the truth is what matters. Our team of experienced fact-checkers separates fact from fiction for you, providing a critical step in our commitment to content integrity. (We’ll admit we’re a bit obsessive when it comes
to details.)
Fact-checkers diligently review medical statements, claims, and recommendations for accuracy and timeliness. We rely on only the most current and reputable primary references, including peer-reviewed medical journals, government organizations, academic institutions, and advocacy associations. All primary and secondary sources are listed inline of every piece of content.
We wouldn’t be the community we are without your feedback. If you have a comment, suggestion, or something to share, feel free to contact us at team@welltheory.com.
